Nedavna univerzitetna raziskava1  je pokazala, da so bakterijske veri\u017eice v zobnem plaku pod vplivom ultrazvoka razpadle, kar je onemogo\u010dilo tvorjenje plaka. Megacrystal\u2122 v lasti podjetja MEGASONEX\u00ae deluje pri varni terapevtski frekvenci 1.6MHz = 96.000.000 pulzov na minuto z nizko mo\u010djo. Podobna frekvenca ultrazvoka se uporablja tudi za pospe\u0161evanje celjenja zlomov kosti. Obi\u010dajne soni\u010dne zobne \u0161\u010detke naredijo 15.000 do 40.000 gibov na minuto, to je 125-333Hz, kar je 4.800-krat manj gibov od ultrazvo\u010dne zobne \u0161\u010detke. Pri tem so dosegli, da so veri\u017eice razpadle ter je bilo onemogo\u010deno pritrjevanje bakterij na povr\u0161ino zaradi sprememb na bakterijskih celi\u010dnih membranah. Pri raziskavi so uporabili ultrazvo\u010dno zobno \u0161\u010detko Ultima\u2122, ki ni imela dodatnih soni\u010dnih gibov. Raziskava \u0161e ni bila ponovljena z zobno \u0161\u010detko MEGASONEX<\/span>\u00ae<span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"> ki je sicer tretja naslednica zobne \u0161\u010detke Ultima\u2122.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small; line-height: 60%;\"><br \/>\n\u00b9Shinada K, Hashizume L, Teraoka K, Kurosaki, N.
